Perspectives on Haiti


First perspective
David McGinty is an Adjunct Professor of Nonprofit Law at Villanova University and director Deep Springs International. Deep Springs focuses on establishing safe water social enterprises in Haiti. He has made numerous trips to Haiti in the wake of the earthquake.

Second Perspective
Josiane Hudicourt-Barnes is a member of the Haitian diaspora and is working for the Office of University Partnerships for FOKAL- The Foundation for Knowledge and Liberty. She was in Haiti when the earthquake struck and helped as an interpreter for the hospital Hopital de la Communauté Haitienne (Haitian Community Hospital) for several months after the disaster.

This show included Nigel Fisher, the Humanitarian Coordinator for the UN in Haiti. We discussed coordination after the earthquake as well as current and future challenges. I also spoke with Karl Jean-Louis, the Executive Director of the Haiti Aid Watchdog over Skype. Our discussion centered around the difficulty of knowing who was doing what where.
